Good Experimental Practice (GEP) Field Trials

NOVACERT Trials Department is recognized by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food to operate as experimental unit of (GEP), in order to carry out biological tests and experiments in any kind of crops. With two fully equipped experimental units able to implement every type of efficacy and selectivity studies, covering a wide range of agro-climates and cultivation conditions.
NOVACERT’s experimental unit operates under standard procedures (SOPs) and when performing the experimental tests provides:

  • preparation of the trial based on the experimental protocol,
  • keeping a field log,
  • processing of trial data, carrying out statistical analyses, which will be carried out with the latest ARM© (Agricultural Research Manager) software edition or any other software is requested, in order to meet the requirements and needs of each customer.
  • presenting the results at any stage of the trial requested by the customer,
  • drawing up the final report

Field trials performed by NOVACERT experimental unit can be as follows:

  • Efficacy
  • Selectivity
  • Demonstration trials / Sales Support trials

GEP trials are performed on all types of crops and all types of agricultural products.

The types of trials conducted and related to the registration, efficacy and crop safety of the tested product, are the following:

  • Dose response and efficacy trials
  • Demonstration / Sales tests (Marketing – Demo trials)
  • Trials under field or greenhouse conditions

The types of trials conducted and related to the registration, efficacy and crop safety of the tested product, are the following:

  • Dose response and efficacy trials
  • Demonstration / Sales tests (Marketing – Demo trials)
  • Trials under field or greenhouse conditions

A detailed assessment of the key parameters concerning the test product, in comparison with a reference product, is conducted in order to make realistic estimates and come into conclusions. The minimum effective dose and the efficacy level are both performed in a two-step approach:

  • An in-detail and precise description of each individual data capture of the trial is implemented, in order to prepare and justify data sets
  • the datasets are analyzed through a statistical approach. This statistical analysis is carried out in order to detect any difference (dose response, efficacy level, etc.). All data captured after each trial assessment are analyzed using ARM© statistics software. Then a meta-analysis of the pooled data provides a detailed understanding of the pest infestation level, phytotoxicity, soil type or any other parameter;

In addition, graphs of the results provide a quick and easy access to main results and conclusions. Then, a brief summary and other English-language adaptations follows, aiming to meet customer requirements.
