With roadshows, tastings and information events in Hamburg, Germany began the promotion actions for Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) basket under the name “Authentico”. Specifically, starting from January 9th, tastings were held in the most famous restaurants of Hamburg, where customers had the opportunity to taste high quality PDO/ PGI “Authentico” products, Thassos Throumba olive and Extra Virgin Olive oil, Xinomavro Naoussa wine, feta cheese, Ladotyri and Mytilene Kasseri cheese. The German public was enthusiastic about the experience of the above Greek tastes, carrying traditions from the mists of time.
On January 14th, food distributors and market participants who traveled from all over Germany in Hamburg attended the information event held in “Emporio Tower” hotel. The event was opened by the Consul General of Greece in Hamburg Mr. Arnaoutis Georgios, Commercial Attaché Mrs. Alexandrakis Pericles, and the president of the German-Greek Chamber of Commerce Mr. George Chatzimarkakis. The main speakers of the event were NOVACERT General Manager Mr. Tamparopoulos Athanasios, who referred to the European policy for PDO/ PGI products, Dr. Mr. Fanoullas Georgios who talked about the health benefits of consuming the “Authentico” products, and Nutritionist Ms. Iris Lange Fricke who made a comprehensive analysis of the advantages of a balanced diet, based on excellent quality cheese, olives, olive oil and red wine PDO products. Then, representatives of the program partners had the opportunity to get acquainted with the German market dealers and discuss on the commercial prospects of cooperation.
The actions were continued to Green Week Berlin exhibition (16/1 – 25/1), hosting more than 1200 nutritional products exhibitors every year. In an impressive booth of 60 sq.m., “Authentico” basket PDO / PGI products were presented to thousands of consumers and trade visitors of the exhibition. It is worth noting that the stand was visited by the Greek Ambassador in Germany, Mr. Kalogeropoulos Panagiotis, the commercial – economic attaché at the embassy Mr. Ntokomes Christos and Deputy Prefect of Crete- Responsible for agricultural and fishing issues Mrs Vrentzou Theano.
In the next weeks “Authentico” promotional activities are expected to peak with roadshows in Cologne, Frankfurt and Munich, where 30 tastings shall be made at top restaurants. At the same time, the campaign continues with a series of tributes and entries in the German printed and electronic media. Organizations involved in the three-year European program of promotion to the markets of Belgium, Germany and Greece are the following: “LESVIGAL” – RODOS Brothers G.P., LESVOS DAIRY S.A., MANDAMADOS DAIRY COOPERATIVE, UNION OF COOPERATED FARMERS (EAS) Kavala, VAENI NAOUSA.
