Promotional activities for Greek peach are escalating in the markets of the Middle East. In this context, NOVACERT successfully organized the participation of Greek peach producers in Saudi Agrofood Expo, plus a business delegation to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
More specifically, within the European program “Peach Garden”, Imathia’s Consortium of Cooperatives Producer Groups participated in Saudi Agrofood Expo, from October 2nd – 5th, 2016. Every year, the exhibition gathers the Arab food market’s key players and was an excellent opportunity to promote the exports of European peach produced in Greece.
Alongside the exhibition, on October 3rd, an informational event was organized at Radisson Blu Hotel. The event was attended by the Consul General of the Greek embassy in Riyadh Mr. Klouvatos Elias, food importers including the president of the local association of importers Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Marzouki, while the presence of the Greek delegation attracted a lot of journalists from the Arab media.
On Tuesday, October 4th, the Greek business delegation had the opportunity to visit the great wholesale fresh fruit and vegetable market of Riyadh, which was guided by Mr. Ibrahim Sulaiman Al-Musa, president of the local Chamber of Commerce.
Finally, the representatives of Imathia’s Consortium of Cooperatives Producer Groups were warmly welcomed at the Greek embassy by Ambassador Mr. Polihroniou Polychronis and Consul General. The discussion highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation among the productive entities and Greek authorities in Riyadh. Designed also required investigation of contact with food importers and distributors in Saudi Arabia, aiming at the realization of safe, secure and long-term agreements for increasing exports.
